Present Simple

1.      Forms of Present Simple

Positive	[Verb]+s/es in third person eg. I like to dance.         She likes chocolate.
Negative	Do/does not + [verb] eg. I do not like to dance.        She does not like chocolate.
Interogative	Do/does+ Subject+ [Verb]? eg. Do you like to dance?        Does she like chocolate?

     2.We use Present Simple with:

Use	E.g.	Ex.
ü  to talk about regular habits or repeated actions.	I get up every day at 7 o’clock.  He never forgets his phone.	In fiecare zi ma trezesc la ora 7. El nu isi uita niciodata telefonul.
ü  to talk about permanent situations.	We live in Romania. They speak english.	Noi locuim in Romania. Ei vorbesc engleza.
ü  To state general truths.	Water boils at 100∘C.	Apa fierbe la 100∘C.
ü  To give instructions and directions	You go down to the traffic lights, then you turn right.	Mergi in jos pana la semafor, apoi virezi la dreapta.
ü  to talk about scheduled events in the near future.	The train leaves at 9 o’clock in the morning.	Trenul pleaca la ora 9, dimineata.
ü  To describe plots of books and films or reviews.	The story begins and ends in France.	Poveste incepe si se sfarseste in Franta.
ü  In sport commentaries .	Beckham passes the ball to Cole- and he scores.	Beckham ii paseaza mingea lui Cole- si el inscrie.
ü  with non-continuous  verbs.	She is not here now.	Ea nu este aici momentan.

     3.Time expressions used with present simple:

In the mornig/evening/afternoon	She only works in the morning.	Dimineata/seara/Dupa-amiaza	Lucreaza doar dimineata.
